This
large carriage house (over 1000 square feet) was probably
built around 1880, and probably housed both horses and carriage
equipment.
It is
a two-story two-bedroom stand-alone structure with it's own
garage literally five feet away. One side opens onto landscaped
gardens (on the A Street side). The other side opens onto
the garage.
This carriage
house has just undergone a complete renovation.
Layout
Downstairs:
It has
a brand new upscale kitchen with maple cabinets, stainless
appliances (including a high-end Fisher-Paykel refrigerator
and Bosch dishwasher), 'madura gold' granite countertops,
marble floors (with radiant floor under-marble heating), and
a full size washer and dryer.
The kitchen,
dining and living room area is one open modern area, well
suited for entertaining. There is a dining table for four,
and a quality leather couch, plus additional seating in the
living area.
The living
room television is a 46 inch Toshiba Regza 1080i flatscreen
HDTV, with the full satellite television package (full HD
package, HBO/Showtime multiple channels, etc.). It also have
a TIVO-like DVR (digital video recorder.... watch one show
while taping another, pause and rewind live TV, set show to
tape while you are out, etc.)
There
is a guest half bath on the first floor. Guest bath has marble
floors and 'comfort height' toilet.
Upstairs:
The open
wood stairs and intricate Chinese-style wrought iron railing
are original to the carriage house.
The main
bedroom is upstairs. It's an open loft space, with french
doors opening on one side, for very good morning light. It
has it's original wood floors.
The bedroom
television is a 32 inch Toshiba Regza flat screen HD television.
The second
bedroom (or office) is also upstairs. It's a traditional enclosed
space, with a modern 'no nails' desk and a high quality queen-size
solid wood futon.
The upstairs
bath has a large shower with 'spa glass' porcelain tiles,
a specially-built shower bench, a high end shower head, and
a charming window in the shower (original feature to the carriage
house).
The bath
has marble floors (heated by radiant floor heating), a 'comfort
height' toilet, a high end marble-topped vanity, and plenty
of storage space.
Miscellaneous:
High speed
DSL and WiFi are included.
This carriage
house is located 1 block from the Supreme Court, 2 blocks
from the US Capitol. It's an easy five block walk to Union
Station (red line metro) or Capitol South (orange and blue
line metros).
A large
professionally landscaped bluestone patio is right outside
the A Street side of the carriage house. The main property
fronts on A Street, a beautiful street dating back to approximately
1860. Occupant of carriage house can choose to enter from
A Street side, through the gardens, or directly through Millers
Court.
Offstreet
parking may be available (inquire for availability).
Monthly
rate is based on the DC per diem rate, which is currently
approximately $6000 per month.

Newly
furnished - This is the largest and most unique
apartment CHS has. This apartment was totally renovated
two years ago and was used as the CHS owner's residence. The
kitchen and bath facilities are well beyond what a typical
apartment usually offers. It is the second and third floors
of a historically protected pitched-roof building built in
the 1860s. As such, there are some unusual aspects. The front
stairway to the main floor of the apartment is original and
is fairly steep, so this apartment may not be suitable for
those with limited mobility. The building has the original
pitched rooflines, so both bedroom ceilings slope to one end,
creating an unusual cozy feel. There are other unusual designer
touches, such as the specialty wrought iron stairwell railing
and exposed wood beams. This apartment has a private roof
deck with stairs to a landscaped, fenced backyard and patio.

end kitchen with GE Profile appliances (side-by-side

Comments:
"The apartment at East Capitol is a historic townhouse
which has been well restored without losing its character,
while at the same time featuring a host of modern amenities
to include Wifi and DirecTV as well as a modern and well-equipped
kitchen. It is ideally located in the heart of the historic
district, within an easy walk of the metro, various parks,
Eastern Market, the Library of Congress, the Capitol, the
Mall, excellent restaurants, and even a great bookshop
across
the street. Capitol Hill Stay ensures that this fully furnished
apartment makes for a great introduction to the Capitol
Hill
lifestyle. " -

Staying with Capitol Hill Stay was a fantastic experience!
The apartment was gorgeous and provided the opportunity to
really get a D.C. experience...every day I walked by the
Supreme Court building and Capitol and past beautiful historic
homes in Capitol Hill! And on the weekends, I was a few short
blocks to the National Mall and enjoyed sight-seeing and
running past some of our Nation's most beautiful and historic
monuments and museums.
This apartment is very spacious, with a bedroom and bath
upstairs and a 2nd bedroom/den downstairs.
The bathroom is super luxurious with a spa tub
and additional shower, as
well as two sinks. There is also a deck off the back, which
is very uncommon in any D.C. metro area apartment!
Here's what I can say about my Capitol Hill Stay: From my
experience, I
found the area to be extremely safe. I would pass 20 or more federal and local
police officers
on duty when walking to and from work. I also had my dog with me and
walked
her in the early morning and late evening and never felt unsafe.
The apartment is close to both Capitol South and Union
Station metro, but I rarely utilized the public transportation
and
could walk most places. There is a great "corner market" and
dry cleaner literally a few steps away.
One of the best perks
staying with Capitol Hill Stay is that you will be able
to spend your time on travel in a unique
and tastefully decorated apartment that really feels like
home. Also and very importantly, the owner of these homes,
Brian Stansberry, works hard to ensure that your stay is
enjoyable!

Here's
what tenants have said:
"I stayed in Apt. 1 of the 6th and A St. property
for close to 4 months and had all of the comforts of home...but
with an even nicer kitchen and bathroom! The apartment was
perfect for my needs - private, quiet, with a parking spot
and a gated yard for my dog Henry. My husband and I were so
spoiled living so near the metro station and Eastern Market
and all of the great dog friendly parks, that it really was
tough to go back home. Rent this apartment, you will not
regret it!"

This charming and historic first floor unit on A Street
NE was a most pleasant surprise to a hotel weary traveler. I
have stayed in corporate housing all over the U.S. and
this is by far the most home-like quarters I have found. The
furnishings and amenities provide all the comforts of home
and the Eastern Market area is historic, beautiful, safe
and family friendly. The massive arched windows
across the first floor building front provide great views
of an active and vital urban neighborhood. During
my 8 month stay I had no need for a car due to the convenient
location to Metro Stations, federal offices, restaurants
and markets. It is quite large with a guest powder room,
washer and dryer and fabulous back garden. Quite
the find in Washington. Capital Hill Stay for
this building in particular will be my first call for corporate
lodging arrangements in the DC area for all my future stays!

2
BR Unit at 4th and C Streets, NE -- (Available
April 1)
(1
unit)
Capitol
Hill Stay has recently renovated a garden-level 2 bedroom,
1 bath unit in a large, castle-like building right on the
park.
Terrific
location, in a very energized area. Easy three block walk
to Union Station metro (red line). 1 block from major bus
service lines. Ten minute walk to Orange/Blue metro lines
at Capitol South. Right around the corner from Massachusetts
Avenue restaurant row.
This apartment
has a new designer kitchen with designer shaker maple cabinets,
granite countertops, slate floors, and new appliances.
The living
and dining room area is a large, open space, with direct open
access to the kitchen. It has exposed brick walls, built in
bookshelves, and a charming round turret. The apartment has
brand new high-end room-specific central air and heat (can
be controlled individually in each room).
The apartment
gets a lot of light, as the building is a corner building,
with windows on three sides. Both bedrooms have several windows,
and the living area has five windows.
For those
not familiar with English basement apartments - this is the
first floor of the building. It's a very common layout in
DC. Almost every townhouse has one. It has a separate entrance
from the rest of the building (top three floors of this building
are one residence). It's partially below grade. This particular
one has windows on three sides that are fully above grade,
giving you far more light than a traditional English basement
may. The ceilings are a bit lower than normal - around 7 feet.
One of the advantages of an English basement apartment is
that it has considerably more room, as there's no need for
a staircase.
Apartment
has a 37 inch flat screen Toshiba TV with HBO/Showtime, a
full HD channel package, and Tivo-like DVR (digital video
recorder).
If you
are an extremely light sleeper this may not be the apartment
for you, as this is a corner property near a busy street.
Brand new triple pane windows have been put in, but if you
are looking for absolute quiet this apartment will not work
for you. The owner of Capitol Hill Stay lives in the main
house and has not found street noise to be an issue.
Apartment
has direct access to a fully landscaped patio.
Apartment
is fully furnished, using high quality furnishings.
High speed
WiFI internet and private DSL line is provided.
Here's
what tenants have said:
As
I get ready to move out on Saturday I just wanted to thanks
you for your wonderful service.
With all the new furnishings, artwork and household items
provided I totally felt at home within days!... It showed
so nice that I was very proud to show it off to my IRS co-workers
and friends that came to visit. Also, you warned me that
it could be a noisy apartment... Well it was not true....
you only have an afternoon commute between 4p-6pm that I noticed...
beyond that, I never noticed any noise. The walk to the Redline
only took a few minutes and for my work the Orange/Blue line
only was a 15 min. walk. Finally thanks for showing me
the great dining options around the corner... The Indian,
Italian,Mexican and German foods were awesome!
Jeff
A, government employee
My
living experience at 4th and C NE was fantastic! I was about
two blocks away from the Hart Senate Office Building. My walk
to work took about 10 minutes, on a bad day. So many people
in DC have to compete with monster commutes, it was so nice
to be able to walk out the door and be at work quickly
and
get home quickly! There is also great access to the Washington
DC Metro Rail. Union Station is about a 10 min walk, which
makes life easy when traveling to Regan National Airport,
or even BWI (MARC train runs to Baltimore)! We were right
across the street from Stanton Park, which was perfect
for walking our dog. I have to say that our living conditions
were not only logistically pleasing, but stylish and comfortable
as well. We LOVE to cook, so the upgraded kitchen was a
huge plus! Comfort and good location are hard to find in this
city, I wouldnt pass this place up! ----
