406 East Capitol St NE #3
(Studio)

406 East Capitol St NE #3: This first floor studio in a charming detached 1860s townhouse - three blocks to Capitol and five blocks to orange, blue, and red line metro - has a great backyard, granite countertops, original pine floors, and privacy.

This apartment has just been renovated. It has a brand new bath and a washer/dryer in the apartment. Photos on the website reflect the unrenovated apartment.

This charming furnished apartment isn't a cookie-cutter corporate apartment in some bland midrise building.

Instead it provides a very unusual furnished apartment experience that is hard to come by in the Washington DC furnished lodging market. It provides a totally different experience than staying in a traditional DC corporate apartment would provide.

Tenant Comments

I just wanted to follow up and let you know how much I appreciated the wonderful home Capitol Hill Stay provided for me during my time in Washington. The apartment was comfortable and so quiet and the neighborhood is fantastic! I'd be thrilled to recommend your accommodations to anyone that may have an extended stay in the DC area. And I hope next time I am in the city I can find my "home" with Capitol Hill Stay.

CHS is a class act! I have stayed in two different CHS apartments. 406 East Capitol is a homey, nicely appointed studio conveniently located next to a great corner store and bikeshare station. 623 A street Unit 3 is a simply beautiful space, with elegant, comfortable furnishings and the feel of a large apartment.

The common thread is that all had the little extras that you'd normally either miss, or go out to buy if you were staying a while; cooking utensils, wine glasses, plenty of clean linens, etc. are all there. The Capitol apartments are tastefully decorated to fit the historic neighborhood. The beds are high quality and comfortable. Most importantly, CHS is incredibly responsive to any small issue that might arise, and will work with you to find the space that suits your needs. Brian answers emails quickly, and handles the business end with courtesy and efficiency.

The Capitol Hill neighborhood is convenient to Eastern Market, which is great for fresh produce in season, and a quick bike ride or metro trip into downtown. If you are going to be in D.C. and want to be close to town, but in a nice quiet elegant neighborhood in a home-like setting, go with CHS!

-- Bart Hoskins

The neighborhood is pleasant and it’s so nice to have a dry cleaner right across the street. I’ve found it fairly easy to get around town from here and the local neighborhood stores have a surprisingly large selection of groceries and supplies. The flat screen TV and DVR were an unexpected bonus.

I could not have asked for a better place to stay during my 6-week internship with the Senate. Although small, the apartment is very comfortable and feels homey. It is also fully equipped, from internet and TiVo, right down to towels and sheets.

Perhaps the best feature, though, is the location. Three blocks from the Capitol, and two from the Supreme Court and Library of Congress, this apartment is in the district patrolled by the Capitol Hill Police. I felt safe walking alone, even at night. The market two doors down is tiny, but incredibly well-stocked; every time I looked for something, they had it. And two metro stops - Union Station and Capitol South - are within easy walking distance.

I hated to leave, and would definitely rent this apartment again.

I was lucky enough to stay at two Capitol Hill Stay locations for a few weeks each, and the experience was exactly what I wanted and expected based on all other reviews.

The location itself was perfect, being a brief walk to the most iconic areas of the city. Everything was in walking distance, and the neighborhood was very enjoyable. The buildings were both very nice and cozy, well furnished, and had all the essentials, such as extra towels and sheets. My five week stay gave me the experience of a lifetime, one that I was lucky to spend here.

-- Mark Kirkikis

Great place. better location. i love the neighborhood, safe, friendly, close to attractions, easy access to transit (including the cap bike program, bus literally a half dozen steps away, and metro within blocks). you should be sure visitors know how close it is to eastern market, which is a real gem. it was a real treat to stay here. i really cannot say enough about CHS.

-- Rich King

I really enjoyed my stay with CHS. I was impressed with how well the space was organized. The studio was well appointed and felt very homey. I hope to be able to stay in a CHS property next year.
