CHS accepts different payment methods.
You may pay rent in the following ways:
- Check (electronic or by mail) (there is no charge for electronic online payment from checking or savings)
- Credit Card (subject to 3.5% credit card surcharge). The system does not take debit cards.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE PAYING BY CREDIT CARD YOU MUST ADD THE 3.5% FEE. WE CANNOT ADD IT FOR YOU.
There is no additional charge if paying from checking or savings account.
To calculate credit card payment with 3.5% fee simply multiply your rent times 1.035 (for example $1000 rent plus credit card fee would end up $1035).
This is a secure, encrypted link. It is actually safer than sending a check through the US mail.
For government personnel that must use the government card there is actually guidance on how to include the 3.5% credit card fee in addition to rent or per diem, and guidance on how to claim it for reimbursement. See guidance here:
RECEIPTS – if you enter your email address in the online check or credit card forms you will automatically get a basic receipt. However, if you need a more detailed receipt please email us and we are happy to provide one.
